NYC Employers Must Display Anti-Sexual Harassment Poster and Distribute Information Sheet as of September 6, 2018

Pursuant to the Stop Sexual Harassment in NYC Act, described in a prior alert available here, as of September 6, 2018, New York City employers must conspicuously display an anti-sexual harassment rights and responsibilities poster and distribute an information sheet on sexual harassment to employees at the time of hire. The New York City Commission on Human Rights has published an English version of the poster and the fact sheet. Versions of the poster and fact sheet in Spanish and other languages are not yet available.

In a similar vein, the Act, which the New York City Council passed on April 11, 2018, and Mayor de Blasio signed on May 9, 2018, also requires employers with 15 or more employees to conduct annual anti-sexual harassment interactive training beginning on April 1, 2019, and within 90 days of hire. This requirement and recently enacted New York State mandates regarding sexual harassment are explained in our prior alert available here.
