Trump Administration Requests Delay of Tax Filing Deadlines as Coronavirus Relief Measure

Last updated March 16, 2020

President Trump has requested that tax filing and payment deadlines be extended by the Internal Revenue Service. The details on how long of an extension will be granted or who will be eligible for the extension have not been released.

There are currently nine bills pending in Congress relating to the Coronavirus. Notably, none of the pending bills provide tax relief. However, this could change quickly given the speed at which bills are being introduced in response to COVID-19.

CSG will continue to monitor proposed legislation and keep you updated on any tax benefits that may be made available to you. Additionally, we encourage all of our CSG tax attorneys to have open dialogues with our clients in order to address timelines and best practices.
